Not sure if this is a viable option for me. DTV Stream only allows 4 home changes per year. My ISP (Frontier fiber) changes that at own their whim and they do NOT offer a static IP address for residential accounts (only business accounts). I checked with the other streaming services and t’sonly Hulu and AT&T that use static IP. And I hope with time these streaming companies that use static IP for the test will get with the 2021 world and fix this. There are other and beter ways to determine home location. I was a DirecTV satellite customer since the '90s, maybe even since the '80s, it's been that long I can't even remember if it was you guys that had the brown receivers with the red digital numbers back then! Unfortunately, the building I live in now does not allow satellite dishes, so I went with DirecTV Now instead of cable out of LOYALTY! I've even leased a new $900 mobile phone from AT&T two weeks ago! I am now seriously asking myself why?! I pay more with AT&T than if I went with most other providers thinking it's worth it for the reliability and customer service, but that fantasy has long since gone. Trying out DIRECTV Stream, but it seems the 20 streams are linked to my home IP address. SO as cake says this is a Hulu issue, or in my case an AT&T issue. I've been an AT&T customer for decades now.
This is not the first time this has happened, but this certainly has been the longest time without a resolution to the problem.
I don't understand how one division of your company can have such issues with another division?! You would think by bundling all my phone (both mobile & landline), broadband, and streaming TV with one company there would be less issues. The streaming quality can only be set on the mobile app. There's a few things to keep in mind: Our recommended internet speed for DIRECTV STREAM, so you can have a good streaming experience.
I am really trying to remain calm about this, but you (AT&T) are my ISP, and you (AT&T) are DirecTV Now. Let's check into your question, u/Dalbass You can indeed use your DIRECTV STREAM box with a hotspot. It's been months, I am not lying, MONTHS since I've watched anything on ABC, CBS, FOX, or NBC because DirecTV Now lists local channels for Richardson, TX and obviously, I am not in TX, so I get an error message whenever I try to access these channels. This is a major problem considering I use DirecTV Now at home as my only source for television, including for local channels. Apparently my IP shows that my location is Richardson, TX, but I live in Los Angeles, CA.
